Dog Licenses
When do I have to license my dog?
In accordance with M.G.L. c. 140, sec. 136 and Marblehead by-laws, all dogs six (6) months of age and older are required to be licensed.  Older dogs are required to be licensed within 30 days of moving into town.  A current rabies certificate from your veterinarian is required to obtain a dog license.

The cost of a license is $15.00 with a spay/neuter certificate or documentation from your vet or $20.00 for an intact dog (or without a spay/neuter certificate). All dog licenses expire December 31st of each year. Dogs must be licensed by January 31st to avoid fines.

ONLINE payment of dog licenses is only available during the month of January.

STARTING February 1st, a $50.00 fine is assessed for every 30 days that a dog remains unlicensed.

You can license your dog in person at the Town Clerk's office or by mail using the dog license application form (link below).  You must also submit the proper paperwork and the correct payment amount by check or cash only.
